Quantum Science Education in Tongji University, Shanghai, China

In 2021, the keyword "quantum information" has been placed in a very important position in the work reports of several governments around the world. At the same time, the ministries of education of some countries have announced that quantum information science is officially listed as an undergraduate major. 

In March, CIQTEK came to Tongji University, Shanghai, China, with its experimental course solution based on the Diamond Quantum Computer for Education to boost the development of quantum information science together.

Tongji University has a long history and reputation of 114 years and is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of China. Tongji University's School of Physics and Engineering has always placed great emphasis on teaching physics experiments, encouraging teachers to expand experimental content and develop new experimental projects. Its physics program was approved as a base for the Basic Subjects Outstanding Students Training Program by the Ministry of Education in 2021.

Quantum information science education cannot be separated from the close combination of quantum theory and experiment. Over the years, CIQTEK has been providing experimental course solutions for higher education institutions, forming quantum education solutions such as the diamond quantum computer for education, quantum computing cloud platform, quantum optics experimental platform, etc., helping universities to promote the construction of quantum information subjects and improve teaching contents and methods. With the support of CIQTEK, the School of Physical Science and Engineering of Tongji University provides the latest experimental courses related to quantum information science for students.

Recently, junior students from the School of Physical Science and Engineering of Tongji University had a unique quantum physics class in the Physics Experimental Teaching Center - "Quantum Computing Experiment" of Modern Physics Experiment. Huang Zhiyong, an application engineer from CIQTEK, introduced the development of quantum technology and the applications of quantum computing in many fields such as biomedicine, transportation, logistics, finance, artificial intelligence, particle physics, etc. He also introduced the differences and advantages of different quantum computing systems.

In order to provide students with a more intuitive understanding of quantum computer principles, quantum superposition state evolution, and classical quantum algorithms, engineer Zhiyong Huang used the CIQTEK diamond quantum computer for education to vividly demonstrate continuous wave experiments, Rabi oscillation experiments, redirection experiments, T2 experiments, dynamics decoupling experiments, D.J. algorithm experiments.

After the course, many students became interested in quantum technology research and communicated with the experts at the end of the course, expressing their intention to engage in quantum technology research. Teachers from the School of Physics and Engineering of Tongji University said that the class combines quantum computing theory and practice well, which is a very meaningful teaching attempt.

CIQTEK Diamond Quantum Computer for Education

The Diamond Quantum Computer for Education is a teaching instrument based on the principle of NV-center and spin magnetic resonance in diamond, which can quantum manipulate and read out the spins of NV-center by controlling physical quantities such as laser, microwave, and magnetic field, so as to achieve quantum computing function.
